Peers pressure and influence through partying, love relationships and drugs can make rebellions even more likely to happen. When children have openly opposed their parents, it is important to talk to them. Parents need to ask clearly what children and teenagers want to make the home a more comfortable place for them. Parents also need to explain to children about the real risk of external influences.

Parents should be able to come up with their set of exciting options, to negate potentially harmful external options. It would be much easier to win the child’s allegiance. However, many parents are simply too late and they are often surprised to see the extent of rebellion of their teenage children. It will take a lot more time and effort to pacify rebellious teenagers. In fact, this could be medium-term goal and it may take a few years before a rebellious teen start to respect the authority of parents. In this situation, parents need to form a plan and try to make steps that can help them to regain their children. The first step is often to calmly talk with teenagers and spend more time with them.
