Children and teenagers want to make good grades and be successful at school. However, many seem to do things in opposite ways. However, deep down in their heart, students actually want to be respected. Their inability to perform well to school could cause students to become less compliant to school rules and they get bad grades. Often, the problem happens because parents don’t really prepare children to perform in a good way. First of all, parents need to make sure that children have good relationships with teachers. A good way to do this is by constantly communicating with teachers. Parents can get information from teachers about how their children perform in the classroom.

It is true that teachers are not comparable to parents, but they should also be respected as well. Parents need to teach children to respect teachers and the whole educational institution, in general. Unfortunately, some parents badmouth the quality of education and they are overly critical. Parents need to keep their opinion to themselves and try to make students to feel excited in school. Children will carry opinion and attitude of their parents into the classroom. Parents need to set proper standard for learning and make education a top priority. Parents also need to be clear about their expectation. It is not enough just to expect students to have good grades. It is important to set clear, daily goals that children need to achieve.

Parents need to provide tips and solutions on how their children can perform well at school. As an example, parents could tell children to listen carefully and always work hard. Most teachers love students who are attentive and always comply with tasks. Parents should also tell children to smile at teachers, as well as having good manners with both teachers and friends. Children should be taught socialization skills. Again, the best way to teach children to socialize is by giving examples. If parents can communicate well with other adults, children will try to emulate what they see. Tell children that they may encounter problems interacting with others, regardless of their best efforts. This way, children will be better prepared and they are not too surprised to meet less friendly individuals.

If parents want their children to perform well at school, they need to give children proper attention. It is not a good thing to devalue children. Eventually, children will pay attention to parents and they have better ability interacting with adults. They will carry this ability to school and it will be easier for them to interact with teachers. Parents should help children to understand their own weaknesses and strengths. If the family has unhealthy and destructive relationship, parents can’t expect that their children will have good performance at school. Parents should see the strength of their children and it is far better if children can better appreciate their own strengths. Eventually, students will be able to live up to their full potentials. Good performance in school will provide children with good foundation, so they will become better adults.
