With herbs, you will have an addition care system to deal with aches, pains and discomfort. Proper selections and uses of herbs will make it unnecessary for you to rely on OTC or subscription drugs. There are many selections of herbs that can aid professional athletes, many of them can be found only in specific regions or countries.

  • Comfrey: Comfrey helps you to rebuild muscle and tissue more easily. You may rub comfrey ointment thoroughly onto your knees, around your ankles and down your shins. However, you should know that comfrey ointment will stain your sheets. So, you should use the ointment before you go to bed. If you want to use the ointment before going to bed, it’s better to wear socks and pajamas to avoid soiling your bed sheets.
  • Tissue and bone formula: For professional athletes, they need help to rejuvenate tired bones and muscles. This formula is consisted of different herbs. In fact, depending on availability in your area, the composition of herbs may vary. Tissue and bone formula is often available as capsules. Powdered herbs often need to be consumed at higher quantity, so you may need to take up to ten capsules each day. Tissue and bone formula can be used along with comfrey ointment to get the most benefit, especially if you have pains, aches and injuries due to repetitive movements. This formula can be consisted of skullcap, lobelia, wormwood, gravel root, walnut bark/leaves, mullein herb, marshmallow root and oak bark. It should be useful for healing and rebuilding your cartilage, flesh, bone and tissue. It’s a formula that many athletes need to stock up.
  • Cayenne: Cayenne is a wonderful herb that can help athletes. It’s good for our digestive system, blood, arteries and heart. After breakfast, you may mix ¼ teaspoon of cayenne powder with some water. The effect of this can be quite surprising. You should be able to run faster and longer with less fatigue. If you take cayenne powder regularly, your circulatory system and heart will be steadily stronger. They will also work more efficiently. Bowel movements and digestion will be better. If you plan to take cayenne, you should start small and be easy with it. As an example, you can begin with 1/8 teaspoon, if you can’t handle the heat. Alternatively, you may choose any cayenne variety that’s less spicy. Start small and if you find the heat unbearable, you should take smaller dose next time or look for a different variety of cayenne. Another trick is gulp the mixture quickly. This way, you will feel less burning sensation on your lips and inside your mouth.

As an athlete, you often need to make quick decisions, which can be quite difficult, if you don’t concentrate well.
